Bítov village

is situated approximately 2 km from the castle. There is a large recreational area known as “Moravian Switzerland”. The village was built between 1934 and 1936 in the former castle game park in a unique style designed by architect J. V. Říha. The rectangular square is dominated by the church of St. Wenceslas and a memorial of the 10^th anniversary of the independent republic. The old village of Bítov used to stand below the castle where it was flooded by the water of the Vranov reservoir. In periods of drought the remains of foundations and bridges can be seen. There are numerous tourist services available in Bítov – both in accommodation and catering.

Information centre

The nearest information centre is in Vranov nad Dyjí, in the square. There you can find information about the region, accommodation, catering, cultural and social events, and bus connections. Tourist maps and guide books are on sale. Open Monday (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) to Saturday (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM).
